When Oskar Blues requested a sustainable, durable package to hold its 12 packs, Great Northern met the challenge face-on by formulating a 100 percent recycled base sheet that proved successful in water drop tests. And when Matrix Biolage requested extremely earth-friendly packaging, the Great Northern team designed a Tree Free paper solution made from 100 percent reclaimed sugarcane fiber and bamboo, with graphics that got the product noticed on the shelf.
In this year’s North American Paperboard Packaging Competition, Great Northern brought home Excellence Awards for the innovative design and performance of four paperboard packaging solutions. Hosted by the Paperboard Packaging Council, the best designs from across North America were judged by a jury of packaging professionals, industry experts, and professors.

The growth of digitally printed packaging leads the list. They pointed to the all-time high amount of digital submissions for this year’s PPC awards as evidence.
